Where It All Began
The word “marais” means marsh in French a nod to the ancient salt marshes where our journey started. Long before Marais Salt became a name on a jar, it was a tradition practiced by generations of paludiers along the coast of Guérande, France harvesters who read the wind, the tides, and the sun to know exactly when the salt was ready to be raked by hand.
We set out to bring that same spirit unrefined, unhurried, and deeply rooted in place to salts from three of the world’s most extraordinary coastlines: the historic marshes of Guérande, the sun-soaked flats of Baja California, and the untouched wetlands of Camargue.
