From the Sea, Pure by Nature.

Marais Salt was born from a simple belief that salt, in its purest form, needs nothing added and nothing taken away. For generations, families along the coasts of France and Mexico have harvested salt using nothing but sun, wind, and patience. We simply continue what they started.

Three Shores. One Passion.

Our journey begins in the unspoiled salt marshes of Camargue, France, where Fleur de Sel forms delicate crystals on the surface of the water. It continues in Guérande, where centuries-old Celtic methods produce a rich, mineral-dense sea salt unlike any other. And it reaches across the ocean to Baja California, Mexico, where sun-dried salt captures the essence of the Pacific coast.
Three regions. Three traditions. One uncompromising standard of purity.

How It's Made

Hand Harvested, Never Rushed.

Every jar of Marais Salt begins its journey long before it reaches your kitchen — in shallow coastal marshes where seawater is left to evaporate slowly under open sky. No factories. No shortcuts. Just water, wind, and time doing what they’ve always done.
We source from three coastlines, each with its own centuries-old harvesting tradition:

Guérande, France

home to Celtic Sea Salt, raked from clay-lined ponds using methods unchanged for generations.

Camargue, France

where Fleur de Sel, the rarest salt of all, forms as delicate crystals on the water's surface and is skimmed by hand.

Baja California, Mexico

where sun dried salt captures the clean, mineral character of the Pacific coast.

Why It Matters

More Than an Ingredient

Salt is the one ingredient that touches almost everything you cook which is exactly why we think it deserves more care than it usually gets. A good salt doesn’t just make food salty. It carries the memory of where it came from: the minerals of the marsh, the warmth of the sun, the patience of the people who harvested it by hand.
That’s what we bottle. Not just salt a small piece of the coastline it came from.
